maurice sendak was widely regarded as the most important children’s book artist of the 20th century //

he wrenched the picture book out of the sanitized world of the nursery and plunged it into the terrifying and hauntingly beautiful recesses of the human psyche //

he passed away today and we can only hope that as he closed his eyes he whispered ::
